Welcome to The African Diaspora Edit

Welcome to The African Diaspora Edit

A monthly visual digest celebrating African culture, community, and creative talent across the UK. The Edit is both a home for original visual storytelling and a spotlight for the brilliant work being done across our diaspora. Each month, we bring together personal photo essays alongside a handpicked directory of upcoming exhibitions, independent African brands and creative opportunities worth supporting.Consider this your curated guide to finding creative community and a dose of home—all in one place.

Our why

The African Diaspora Edit exists to document, archive, and amplify the rich tapestry of African culture across the UK. Founded by a Zimbabwean documentary photographer seeking creative belonging, The Edit serves a dual purpose:

  • To Archive and Shift Narratives: Acting as a custodian of history by capturing authentic, nuanced stories through original photo essays—elevating the narratives that are often left untold or under-celebrated.
  • To Connect and Champion Community: Serving as a monthly curated spotlight that bridges the gap for displaced creatives, amplifying the events, brands, restaurants, literature, and art of those actively building and celebrating African culture in the UK.

Through visual art and radical curation, we ensure that living far from home never means being disconnected from our creative roots.
